Let your child enjoy a fun-filled summer art adventure surrounded by nature in the beautiful Treehouse NDSM garden, located in Amsterdam.

Dear parents and caregivers,

I'm Secil, an artist and teacher with many years of experience. Nature has always been my greatest source of inspiration, and I love creating playful, creative art experiences for children. This summer, I'd love to welcome your children to a special painting workshop at my art residency in Treehouse NDSM.

Treehouse NDSM is a unique green oasis filled with artist studios representing a variety of creative disciplines. Surrounded by plants, flowers, birds, insects, nests, natural textures, and seasonal scents, children will explore the garden and use it as inspiration for their own expressive paintings.

During the workshop, children will:

Start with a fun and interactive art & nature quiz.
Discover how artists are inspired by gardens and the natural world.
Explore the garden, observing colours, shapes, textures, plants, flowers, and tiny details.
Make simple sketches and playful marks to develop ideas.
Receive creative prompts to spark their imagination.
Create their own painting inspired by nature.
Learn basic ideas about colour, composition, and shape in a fun, age-appropriate way.

What is included

All materials are provided, including:

24 × 30 cm canvas
Easel
Pencils
Brushes
Acrylic paints

Children who enjoy working with other materials are also welcome to bring their own art supplies.

The workshop is fully guided and designed to be relaxed, playful, and encouraging. There is no pressure or rush—every child is supported to create at their own pace while exploring, experimenting, and enjoying the creative process.

Juice and an ice cream at the end of the workshop are included.

In case of rain or strong wind, we'll simply move into our beautiful indoor studio overlooking the garden, so the workshop will take place regardless of the weather.

Whether your child already loves drawing and painting or is simply curious to explore, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, build confidence, develop creativity, and enjoy a joyful summer day in one of Amsterdam's most inspiring artistic environments.

Suitable for children aged 4–12 years.
The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Parents are welcome to stay nearby in the Treehouse café or return at the end of the workshop.
