Escape into a creative summer experience surrounded by nature in theTreehouse NDSM garden, located in Amsterdam's vibrant creative district.

Dear all!

I'm Secil, an artist and teacher with many years of experience. Nature has always been my greatest source of inspiration, and I'd love to share my creative process with you during this special painting workshop at my art residency in Treehouse NDSM.

Treehouse NDSM is a unique green oasis filled with artist studios representing a variety of creative disciplines. Surrounded by plants, flowers, birds, insects, nests, natural textures, and seasonal scents, we'll use the garden as our inspiration to create expressive and personal paintings.

During the workshop you will:

Start with a fun art & nature icebreaker quiz.
Discover the gardens of famous artists and learn how nature influenced their work.
Explore the garden, take photographs, or make sketches to inspire your painting.
Receive creative prompts to spark your imagination.
Create your own painting inspired by the natural environment.
Learn practical tips on composition and colour theory.

What is included:

All materials are provided, including:

24 × 30 cm canvas
Easel
Pencils and charcoal
Brushes
Acrylic paints

If you prefer to work with another medium, such as oil paint or watercolours, you're welcome to bring your own materials.

This workshop is designed to be relaxed, inspiring, and enjoyable. There is no pressure or rush—everyone works at their own pace, allowing plenty of time to observe, experiment, and enjoy the creative process.

Coffee, tea, and iced tea are included throughout the workshop. If you'd like to make a day of it, you're welcome to stay for lunch afterwards (at your own expense).

In case of rain or strong wind, we'll simply move into our beautiful indoor studio overlooking the garden, so the workshop will take place regardless of the weather.

Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with nature, develop your creativity, and enjoy a peaceful summer day in one of Amsterdam's most inspiring artistic locations.

Art Studio Amsterdam NDSM is located in Treehouse NDSM, just a 1-minute walk from the NDSM ferry and 13 minutes away from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Please note:

Maximum 12 participants per session aged 16 and above.
This workshop is intended for adults and is not a children's class.
Children's summer workshops take place on Saturdays—please see the main Eventbrite page for details.
The venue is wheelchair accessible.
